UNION EMAIL TO BE RESTORED

Earlier this year, some State agencies denied union local leadership the option of notifying its membership of important happenings by email. While email has long ago become the standard for quick and easy communication, no defined policy governing its use was available.

Council 81 has worked with the State Personnel Office to restore this communication form to its locals. "Email communication for meetings has become the new equivalent to the bulletin board. Instead of printing the notices on paper and then manually posting them on a number of bulletin boards located in many locations, in some cases throught the entire State of Delaware, members can receive the same information in a nanosecond," said Michael A. Begatto, Executive Director.

This restoration should be beneficial to all parties in terms of time and labor and ultimately save a lot of paper.

The policy is available on this link for downloading.
